Glen Carlou Shortlisted for South African Producer of the Year by International Wine & Spirit Competition

Glen Carlou was among six South African wineries to be shortlisted as ‘South African Producer of the Year’ last week at Cape Wine 2015 by The International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC), with the announcement to be made at the Annual Awards Banquet in London in November.

The prestigious competition awarded Glen Carlou two Outstanding Gold’s for its Gravel Quarry Cabernet Sauvignon 2010 and The Welder, natural sweet Chenin Blanc 2013 along with three silvers and a bronze.

Winemaker Arco Laarman who celebrated his 15th year at Glen Carlou earlier this year says, “We are thrilled to be recognised by The IWSC, one of the most recognised international wine competitions. To be shortlisted as South African Producer of the Year is a great honour and we are pleased to be listed amongst such well recognised producers, we are all doing the South African wine industry proud on the world stage.”

Now in its 46th year, The IWSC seeks to reward the world’s best wines, spirits and liqueurs. Its rigorous judging process and its relentless pursuit of excellence is what sets it apart from other competitions.

The exciting week was rounded off with news of a Gold medal at Mundus Vini, Germany for our 2011 Grand Classique.
