    The Glen Carlou Wine Story

    A splendid storyline supports our desirable reputation of being a trusted, highly awarded, globally respected wine brand. Located within the Simonsberg-Paarl region of the Western Cape in South Africa, our estate is a 20-minute drive from the university town of Stellenbosch.Our red wine selection showcases a variety of red wine styles including easy-drinking fruit-driven reds, bold and hearty wines all the way through to elegant and structured red wines. The portfolio includes single varietals and blends. Winemaker, Johnnie Calitz guides the fruit, juice and wine with a delicate hand, allowing the wines to develop at their own pace to allow for the expressiveness of their terroir to be retained. Our underground maturation cellar was built into the mountainside to benefit from ideal conditions for wine maturation. Our barrel cellar, featuring distinct water-bent barrels, currently holds 2 500 assorted French and American oak barrels in an array of sizes. The Glen Carlou’s red wines have ranked as top wines in most of South Africa’s top award lists.
    Our award-winning red wines are released into the market ready to drink and to be enjoyed. Certain of our red wines can however be aged for between five and ten years, dependent on style and optimal cellaring conditions. Glen Carlou red wines are made from the most popular international red wine varieties, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Malbec, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Syrah. Our Bordeaux blend Grand Classique is a timeless blend of bold red varietals, whereas our vibrant Petite Classique is a slimmer version composed of Malbec and Merlot. The Glen Carlou Gravel Quarry Cabernet Sauvignon is a single vineyard naturally fermented red wine with a limited production. This is an excellent example of a full-bodied fundamental Cabernet Sauvignon and has been awarded a 4.5 star rating in the Platter’s Wine Guide. Buy red wine for any occasion.
