Coronavirus safety announcement:
Managing Director, Johan Erasmus, has issued the following announcement:
“As Glen Carlou’s Managing Director I am keeping up to date on all COVID-19 developments. When the virus took hold in certain countries, my team and I had already embarked on assessing occupational protocols and hygiene applications across our business. Subsequent to the government mandates of Sunday 15 March, we had implemented certain immediate measures and continue to review these. Our primary concern being the well-being and health of all our employees, their families and in turn communities and our visitors and suppliers.
Where social distancing has been possible, administrative staff are working from home. Sales team call cycles have been limited with protocols in place no longer to be shaking hands, observing best practise distance and sneezing/coughing etiquette, always with alcohol-based sanitisers at hand. Access to the winery has been restricted to the cellar team only with strict rules in place for essential supplier deliveries over this period.
Ours is a people business with personal interactions at the heart of our Glen Carlou experience. So that after careful consideration and deliberation I would like to inform everyone that currently, our visitor centre remains open for business. We have implemented further operational policies to ensure the safety and health of all employees and customers.
Restaurant reservations will be limited so that bookings need to be made. Tables are widely spaced and high grade sanitising agents are accessible to guests from the entrance and throughout the visitor centre. Be assured that all touchpoints from menus to card machines and pens are sanitised before each individual use. Within our kitchen, we already practise certified food industry protocols and have increased the intensity and frequency within these areas.
Our Gallery remains open for visitor’s to enjoy the current exhibition. We are exploring digital options for a virtual opening on April 5th of Alex Hamilton’s Wild Wild Life. A traditional exhibition opening is no longer possible, however, we want to share the exciting works and so honour the labour-intensive craft of the contributing artists.
We do recognise that this situation is a fluid one with almost hourly updates and we will react immediately to changes. It is incumbent on us to request that anyone planning on visiting is mindful of the internationally accepted hygiene practices. We all need to heed our own health status, and as such we respectfully request that anyone who has returned from travel outside of South Africa within the past 21 days, refrain from visiting.
Please do keep in contact on any of our social media platforms, via email, or through the website, using the chat function or call us. Also, a reminder that wines can be ordered in our online wine shop, and under the current circumstance free shipping will apply to all orders of 12 bottles or more, delivered in South Africa.
Wishing everyone well through this unprecedented time.”
