Chenin Blanc Pairing

Michael Olivier's Chenin Blanc Pairing

Micheal Olivier’s not so traditional pairing with Glen Carlou Collection Chenin Blanc

The Glen Carlou Collection Chenin Blanc, an exciting addition to our brand portfolio, is a beautiful, rich and elegant wine. This wine was awarded 95 points by Master of Wine Tim Atkin, as well as a Silver Outstanding in the 2018 International Wine And Spirits Competition and 4 Platter stars in the 2019 wine guide.

Made from 50-year-old bush vine fruit grown under dry land conditions in the Swartland, this splendid wine was barrel fermented in 2nd and 3rd fill French oak for 4 months. The grapes were fermented naturally and only 3 400 bottles were produced from the 2018 vintage.

“Layered aromas of stone fruit, cashew nuts, jasmine and marzipan abound on the nose. Initially shy, the wine opens up considerably. A rich and full bodied mouthfeel leads to an extended aftertaste with hints of tangerine and satsuma fruits.” Winemaker Johnnie Calitz

Showcasing the versatility of this Chenin Blanc, Michael Olivier pairs this wine with Dianne Bibby’s traditional South African pickled fish.

This tangy and aromatic dish is perfect for Summer days, served with vibrant salads and freshly baked bread it is beautifully complemented by the richness and satin finish of our Chenin Blanc.
