Glen Carlou Celebrates

Glen Carlou Celebration

Wine, Food, Art and Friends

On 05 October, Glen Carlou welcomed Destinate, a specialized Tourism & Marketing Agency, along with a group of talented creative minds, bloggers and lifestyle enthusiasts to join us in celebrating 30 Years of Wine, Food & Art.

Rosé was swirled on the terrace overlooking the Glen Carlou vineyards and surrounding Drakenstein Mountains before heading into the cellar with Winemaker, Johnnie Calitz and Managing Director Johan Erasmus. The dimly lit Cellar welcomed our guests between French Oak Barrels and Nomblot Eggs for a celebration of Chardonnay, the first Glen Carlou wine to be produced.

The Comparative Chardonnay tasting included the light and refreshing Unwooded Chardonnay – fermented in the cement-clay egg tanks, the award-winning and rich Classic Chardonnay, and the elegant single-vineyard Prestige Quartz Stone Chardonnay. These Chardonnays stand tall as the foundation of Glen Carlou and not only celebrates 30 Years of Wine, but showcases innovation, quality and a commitment to producing extraordinary wines.

The Celebration continued in The Restaurant @ Glen Carlou where beautiful plates of food created a frenzy of camera movement before the room went quiet with delight. Lunch at Glen Carlou is always a treat of seasonal produce and Chef Johan Stander always surprises with small delights he sends with “compliments of the Kitchen”, and then there is the perfect pairing of wine with each course.

Before all indulged in luxurious sweet sin, Curator to The Gallery @ Glen Carlou, Alex Hamilton took a turn through the gallery, showcasing some of South Africa’s contemporary artists.

A wonderful celebration in which all concur, Glen Carlou is not just a winery – but a Wine, Food and Art Destination!
