Glen Carlou Sauvignon Blanc 2019

R90.00

Sourced from the truly maritime climate region of Durbanville which lies some 10kms from the chilly Atlantic Ocean to the west, the vineyards are exposed to moisture-laden, seasonal coastal mists which, together with cooling North West breezes keep potentially high summer temperatures down. We prefer to make our Sauvignon Blanc in a more reductive style to preserve the fruit purity and enhance the vibrant fruit flavour profiles.

Sauvignon Blanc is planted in many of the world’s wine regions, producing a crisp, dry, and refreshing white wine. The grape most likely gets its name from the French words Sauvage and Blanc due to its early origins as an indigenous grape in South West France.

Winemaker’s Note

This vibrant cool climate styled Sauvignon presents a vivid lemon-lime colour. As the wine evolves in the glass, it develops from green apple to kiwi notes with intriguing floral tones. The mouthfeel is fresh with a well-structured mid palate, balanced by bright acidity. This wine is beautifully brought together with flavours of pineapple, green pepper and gooseberries. The hero unquestionably is the purity of fruit from which it was made
