Striving towards the perfect blended balance, this complex yet elegant wine has a vibrant dark red colour with hints of herbal and violet aromas folded into layers of fruit, dark chocolate and savoury notes.

It is smooth and supple on the palate with ripe tannins, good concentration and persistent plush finish.

The name Bordeaux derives from the French au bord de l’eau which means “along the waters”. Bordeaux red wine is typically Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec.

Tasting Notes

This wine displays integrated cassis and blackberry fruits with hints of cinnamon and spice on the nose. It exhibits ripe and concentrated briary fruit with cherry and chocolate flavours on the palate. It has a long finish, balanced by fine tannins, a rich texture and subtle acidity.

Varietals are all individually vinified to allow for the development of each one’s unique character. After assemblage the blend is barrel matured in 225L French barriques for 18 months. The mouthfeel is richly textured with a firm yet accessible tannin structure.


18 months: 30% new French oak (225 litre, 40% second fill and 30% third fill French oak (225 litre)

“Handpicked grapes for this wine were vinified sepa-rately until it was time to blend. A firmly structured palate, of fine grained tannins and a line of natural acidity, frames the combination of red and blackberry fruit. Expect to find soft spices, dense fruit and layers of dark chocolate, along with classic Cabernet cigar box and red cherry notes. This full-bodied, well balanced wine and has a long-lasting flavour of liquorice and mint leaves.”- Johnnie Calitz
